SAPS warns motorists not to drive under the influence after 9 arrests in joint operation

The Norwood SAPS and JMPD joint operation nabbed 9 motorists driving under the influence, and will continue until 2026.

Motorists are urged to not drive under the influence, after 9 people were arrested on November 1 for drinking and driving.

Norwood Police Station’s Warrant officer Eric Masotsha confirmed that Norwood SAPS embarked on a joint operation with the Johannesburg Metro Police Department to ensnare those driving under the influence on Louis Botha Avenue in Orange grove. “As we approach the festive holidays, we, as SAPS and JMPD, mean business when dealing with motorists who drive under the influence.”

He added that this was an ongoing operation, which will continue until next year.

The warrant officer urged commuters to report all drivers who are negligent on public roads, as well as other criminal activities, to 0810010111.

The 9 arrested drivers will appear before the magistrate’s court in due course.
