DP World Lions CEO doesn’t doubt 2026 will be a good year for the pride

DP World Lions had a stellar 2025, winning trophies, making runs, and making the Lions the kings of the cricket pitch.

As the year draws to a close, DP World Lions CEO Jono Leaf-Wright said 2025 reaffirmed that together, everyone achieves more.

Leaf-Wright added that the DP World Lions team were passionate, and from the bottom up, their pipeline delivered day in and day out, embedding excellence as a non-negotiable across every level, from their youth structures to their senior teams. “2025 was anything but average. Lions Cricket doesn’t do average. As the country’s Best Sports Organisation for two years running, our people continue to thrive on excellence, from take-off to touchdown. I have no doubt that 2026 will raise the bar even higher.”

Highlights from the 2024/25 season include:

  • DP World Lions men’s team won the T20 trophy and shared the 4-day series trophy,
  • DP World Lions women’s team won the HWB Pro50 and finished 3rd in the HWB Pro20,
  • Former Lions President Dr Mohammed Moosajee was announced as the new Cricket South Africa vice president,
  • Cricket South Africa Pathway Awards for Central Gauteng Lions received 5 trophies,
  • Cricket South Africa Professional Awards for Central Gauteng Lions received 6 trophies, and
  • DP World Lions Blind Cricket team received Team of the Year with a Disability.
