Heavy rain deteriorates Arran Avenue in Birdhaven

JRA is yet to respond to Birdhaven residents about the erosion on Arran Avenue.

The concerns of Birdhaven residents continue to grow regarding the erosion on Arran Avenue, caused by heavy rains over the past few weeks.

Resident Jennifer White, on December 23, said: “The road is deteriorating daily and will soon be unusable.”

White added that the matter was reported to Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA) on December 10, but there had been no response.

Ward 74 councillor Belinda Kayser-Echeozonjuku said the matter was only receiving attention because the media was probing JRA when questioned. “It is absolutely unacceptable that services were delivered swiftly during the G20 period, yet residents are now forced to beg for basic delivery.”
