Pridwin Preparatory School celebrates a year of growth, grit and remarkable achievement

Pridwin closes 2025 with global recognition, award-winning young writers and record-breaking sporting success, marking a year defined by growth, grit and community spirit.

As 2025 draws to a close, the Pridwin community reflects on a year shaped by hard work, compassion and the steady growth of young boys becoming young men.

In his festive message, executive headmaster Ross Grimley expressed both gratitude and pride as he looked back on a school year that had blended tradition with forward-thinking purpose.

Grimley expressed that leading Pridwin had been a true privilege, highlighting that resilience and grit were integral to the school’s culture. Pridwin boys consistently demonstrate character, whether in class, in friendships, or on the sports field.

With over a century of history, the school is focused on the future, committed to raising young men who care for others and stand against injustice, especially in protecting women and children. As the festive season approaches, he wishes families rest, joy, and renewed hope for the upcoming year.

The Pridwin Academy has made a significant impact by supporting Grade 4 to 7 learners from Alexandra through its academic enrichment programme, which runs three afternoons a week.

This year, the academy won the Schroders Investment Management Global Charity Competition Award, recognising its role in empowering young learners and allowing for an additional class in 2026.

In the arts, Pridwin boys excelled in the South African Council for English Education original writing competition, achieving first place in the 2025 SACEE Creative Writing Competition for the Midvaal branch. Special recognition went to Andrew Costa, the overall Grade 6 winner.

Pridwin’s cricket programme had five boys selected for regional teams. The new multi-purpose indoor sports centre will enhance training for cricket and basketball.

In hockey, three players were chosen for the District Nine team, and eight Pridwin teams completed their seasons unbeaten, showcasing the programme’s talent and coaching.

Distance running also found fresh momentum this year with the launch of the inaugural Pridwin Running Club. The club made its debut during the JP Morgan Corporate Challenge and has since ignited a renewed enthusiasm for cross-country among learners, staff and children from neighbouring schools.

The season concluded with a standout performance from Jesse Jacobs, who achieved a top 10 finish in the highly competitive Prestige Cross Country event.

As the final pages of 2025 turn, Pridwin stands united in pride and purpose. It has been a year marked by achievement, compassion and the steady building of character.

The school moves into the festive season with gratitude for its accomplishments and optimism for the many possibilities that lie ahead.
