Rosebank SAPS aims to tackle social ills through school talks
Rosebank SAPS stressed the importance of abiding by the law at Rosebank Primary School.
In an effort to maintain high visibility, and tackle social ills at a grassroot level, Rosebank SAPS officers, Visual Policing (Vispol) Commander Captain Ndivhuwo Mulaudzi and Social Crime Prevent Sergeant Phophi Nguni, visited Rosebank Primary School.
The officers were welcomed on January 15 by the school’s acting principal Yurisa Rugununan, who ushered them to grades R, 2, and 7 classes where they stressed the importance of abiding by the rules and laws of the school. “Don’t be scared to speak up to your teacher if you have a problem at school,” Nguni told the Grade R class.

Rugununan commended Rosebank SAPS’ visibility at the school. “The school’s relationship with Rosebank SAPS has been good and continues to grow throughout the years. Not only are they reliable; they have also intervened in matters we have called them to address.”

She noted that the police’s visibility was important because the school wants to maintain good standards in terms of discipline.
Mulaudzi concluded that it was important for him and his colleagues to be visible in schools to deter any bad behaviours that would eventually spill over into communities and society. “Our main objective is to encourage good behaviour in learners, tell them crime doesn’t pay, discourage bullying, and to stay away from drugs. This is important to us as SAPS, because they are children who are part of our policing community.”
