25-year-old man gets five years for golf club assault

No order was made in terms of Section 103 of Act 60 of 2000.

Alexandra Magistrate’s Court sentenced a 25-year-old man to five years in jail for robbery with aggravating circumstances on March 15.

Bramley Police Station spokesperson Captain Molefe Mogodi said, “A complainant arrived at the Bramley Police Station to open a case of robbery on March 2 and reported that on February 26, he was at the gate outside his home when a man and woman approached him.”

Mogodi added the man assaulted the complainant with a golf stick and he sustained injuries. The accused robbed the victim of his cellphone and wallet which contained personal items.

Mogodi said detectives traced the suspect and he was arrested.
The suspect pleaded guilty in court.
