Parktown High School for Girls kicked off their cross-country season

It was packed with a variety of activities created to provide an opportunity for the girls to relax, engage in team-building activities and improve their physical and mental fitness.

Parktown High School for Girls’ cross-country captain Hannah Ahrens reflected on the cross-country camp.

“The cross-country camp that took place on April 16–20 started off with a bang. It was packed with a variety of activities created to provide an opportunity for the girls to relax, engage in team-building activities and improve their physical and mental fitness.”

Hannah added that on Friday, April 16, the girls started off with a dynamic and static stretching session, learning the importance of these stretches and when to do them. This was followed by an informative session learning about running cadence, or stride rate.

She noted, “One of the highlights of the camp for the runners was the night run, which was a great success and a memorable experience. We set out with headlamps and a sweeper vehicle to navigate the suburb pavements by torchlight in the middle of load-shedding, which provided a ‘vibey’ atmosphere that was enjoyed by all of us.”
