The Anti-Kidnapping Unit and Vision Tactical were honoured with the 2025 Provincial Commissioner’s Excellence Award

Vision Tactical and the Anti-Kidnapping Unit are committed to the fight against kidnapping.

Houghton based security services, Vision Tactical and the Anti-kidnapping Unit (AKU) was recognised and awarded with the 2025 Provincial Commissioner’s Excellence Award by Gauteng Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Mthombeni on November 14 at Velmoré Hotel & Spa.

Vision Tactical and the Anti-kidnapping Unit were commended for their outstanding contribution in combatting kidnapping syndicates across the province.

Mthombeni reaffirmed the critical importance of, intelligence-driven operations in high-risk environments.He lauded the AKU for its disciplined coordination and trusted partnerships, “The AKU’s continued success stems from credible intelligence, coordinated action, and seamless cooperation between all units and partners. The collective effort, including the contributions of Vision Tactical, has been central in protecting communities and dismantling organised criminal groups.”

Working jointly, the AKU and its integrated partners, including Vision Tactical, achieved decisive results:

  • 172 kidnapping-related incidents addressed
  • 188 victims identified and assisted
  • 171 suspects arrested
  • 38 vehicles seized
  • 32 illegal firearms recovered
  • Multiple planned kidnappings prevented through proactive intelligence and rapid mobilisation

These outcomes reflect the strength of a unified, multi-disciplinary approach that continues to weaken syndicate capability and enhance preventative readiness in high-risk areas.

Director of Vision Tactical Yaseen Theba expressed his gratitude for the recognition.

“This award belongs to the men on the ground, officers, specialists, and partners who consistently operate beyond the call of duty. Our involvement places no financial burden on the state or affected families.”

Theba added that they remained committed to supporting the AKU and ensuring that corruption, intimidation, or criminal interference will never derail legitimate investigations or operational progress.

The AKU, supported by Vision Tactical as a fully integrated partner, reaffirms its absolute commitment to confronting kidnapping syndicates, protecting communities, and strengthening operational capacity across Gauteng and beyond.
