Kingsmead’s Junior Head welcomes learners back with a year to ‘Bloom’

Brendan Quinn, Kingsmead College’s new Junior Head, embraces a fresh school year with optimism, creativity, and a focus on growth for every girl.

The start of the school year at Kingsmead College’s Junior School was met with excited chatter, bright smiles, and the shuffle of little feet, as learners returned to classrooms full of anticipation. Leading the way is Brendan Quinn, who took on the role of Junior Head late last year.

“It’s a privilege to guide girls from Grade 000 to Grade 7,” Quinn says. “Every day is an opportunity to nurture their confidence, creativity, and sense of belonging.”

Quinn describes the beginning of the year as a time full of energy and possibility. “There’s a blank canvas at the start of the year,” he explains. “It’s a chance to imagine, create, and grow together.”

Quinn is looking forward to Kingsmead’s annual highlights, including the magical bookfair and the Valentine’s Day open day. “These events celebrate imagination, community, and the joy of learning,” he says.

This year’s theme, ‘Bloom’, reflects Quinn’s approach to education, nurturing growth at each girl’s own pace and encouraging curiosity and enthusiasm across academics, arts, sports, and service. He has also expanded the Beyond the Classroom programme, providing more opportunities for participation and personal development outside the classroom.

The reaction from the learners has been heartwarming. “Walking through the gates, you can see the sparkle in their eyes,” Quinn notes. “They’re excited to reconnect with friends and to feel that they belong.”

As 2026 unfolds, Quinn’s message is clear: Kingsmead Junior School is a place to grow, explore, and flourish.
