“The event is quite important because there is a lot of pressure and stress around going back to school. We aimed to bring the fun back around school and stationery.”

Illustrator and artist, Russell Abrahams, commended the stationery company for hosting such an event, “Today is important, especially for me, because growing up, I did not think I could make a living out of drawing. Now that I am working as an illustrator in the country, it’s making me realise that South Africa is such a small stage in the frontier, but there’s so much talent.”

Abrahams concluded that the more he could inspire a child or adult to pick up a pen and draw and be creative, the happier he would be.

“More people should be able to make a living from what they are passionate about.”
