Johannesburg Water leaves resident in muddy situation

Lyndhurst resident Clint Louw remains inconvenienced after an excavation, dug in front of his gate to repair a pipe leak, wasn’t properly reinstated.

A pipe leak excavation has left Clint Louw, a resident from Lyndhurst, frustrated.

The excavation, situated in front of his house, has been backfilled, but has not been reinstated or tarred.

Louw reached out to the publication on March 4 to escalate the problem, since the avenues he has tried to contact Johannesburg Water have not succeeded.

The resident noted that Lyndhurst Road was riddled with excavations from burst pipes, a clear sign of the ageing infrastructure. “The excavation is a result of a pipe leak which began on February 26. Johannesburg Water attended to the leak on February 28, and have since left a muddy situation which runs into my yard when it rains.”

Ward 81 councillor Joanne Horwitz said she was aware of the situation and would escalate the matter.

The publication reached out to Johannesburg Water and will update the article with their response.
