Trevor Noah hosts start-up competition final event

See what else Trevor Noah is getting up to abroad.

The world’s favourite comedian right now, Trevor Noah, who was our local funny guy and is now the host of the hit US satirical news show, The Daily Show, is adding another notch to his belt of endless achievements.

Noah has officially been announced as the host of Chivas’ The Venture Final event to be held in New York City on 14 July.

The Venture Final is the culmination of the alcoholic beverage brand’s global search to find and support the most promising social start-ups across the globe, with a share of US$1 million (R14 579 795) in funding and resources.

“I’m really honoured to be hosting Chivas’ The Venture Final,” Noah commented.

“In a world where using business as a force for good is becoming increasingly important, it’s great to see such an impressive line-up of social entrepreneurs looking to make a difference. I can’t wait to see who will walk away with funding.”

Only in its second year running, the competition has received more than 2 500 entries from start-ups who aim to tackle a number of social and environmental issues. There are 27 finalists representing 27 countries and they were treated to some expert mentorship at the University of Oxford, ahead of the finals.

Exciting for finalists and Noah was the panel of judges which included actress Eva Longoria, among other businessmen and women.

The event will take place at the iconic Pier 59 Studios and we’re sure that Noah will make South Africa proud.
