Let’s Twist Again, the exciting swing and rock ‘n roll music event is almost upon us and City Buzz hopes that everyone is ready to rock out, 50s-style.
With the obvious lack of 50s-styled music events taking place in the city, or even worldwide, there was someone who recognised a place for his favourite type of music to flourish. “It’s something that’s close to my heart because I’ve been playing swing music for a long time,” said Michael Lesar, organiser of Let’s Twist Again.
Lesar, who is a DJ and also part of a swing band, Full Swing, could be considered the pioneer of the modern swing movement. “I started seeing a nice gap in the market for something exciting and new, so I started the event and it just exploded and the party gained a nice following. It’s been four years now and the events have just grown from strength to strength.”
Let’s Twist Again, which started as an event at various clubs around the city, recently jumped ship and took place at Carfax in Newtown.
Now organisers are keen to keep the event going at some of the most popular venues in the city and will be hosting the event at The Good Luck Bar situated in the trendy Sheds @1 Fox in Ferreirasdorp.
Fans of the movement and regulars at the Good Luck Bar are encouraged to get ready for the exciting night during which they will celebrate all things 50s, from rock ‘n roll to 50s RnB, from cars to fashion, as well as the movies and movie stars from that era.
In addition, all who attend should not be shy to dress up in their favourite cheeky babe outfits or don the threads of the era’s cool cats, greasers and motorheads.
There’s a ton of fun to be had and organisers say, ‘Let the good times roll’.
Don’t miss out on all the fun on 16 July at The Good Luck Bar.
