Brescia House learner to take on Commonwealth Karate Champs
Brescia House School’s very own karate kid Erin Ford will join Team South Africa junior team at the Commonwealth Karate Championships in the UK in September.
Brescia House School’s very own Erin Ford will be holding the South African flag high as she has been selected to compete in the Commonwealth Karate Competition.
This year’s edition of the tournament is set to take place in Birmingham, UK in September.
Erin is both excited and honoured to be joining Team South Africa at the Commonwealth Karate Competition. “I will be competing in the Junior Kata and Kumite division, representing South Africa in this elite competition.”
Organised by the Commonwealth Karate Federation, the competition has invited karate federations from Commonwealth countries to send their national squads to participate with the aim of demonstrating that competition karate is suitable to be included in the Commonwealth Games.
“I am looking forward to meeting all competitors from other countries to gauge the level of karate standard and see my areas of improvement.”
Erin competed in her first international competition earlier this year and is excited to see the hard work and commitment she put in, pay off.
In the meantime, she continues to train and prepare for the championship with her teammates. “I will be preparing for this competition with regular coaching sessions and attending all the National Karate Federation squad training to ensure fitness and obtain advice and preparation tips from all coaches that have participated in many world events.”
