Jackson’s Bryanston hosts health conversation
Local expert Linda Galvad sheds light on the powerful link between organic farming and gut health, offering simple tips for healthier living.
At Jackson’s Bryanston on April 4, a group of individuals gathered to learn more about gut health and the role of organic vegetables in maintaining a healthy gut.
The host, Linda Galvad, founder of Sought After Seedlings, a local organic farming initiative, believes strongly in the connection between organic farming and overall health.
With over 20 years of experience in horticulture, Galvad explained how more and more people are turning to natural, sustainable methods to support their gut health.

One of the most effective ways, according to Galvad, is by consuming organic vegetables. “The soil is the foundation of everything. When we cultivate it naturally, without synthetic chemicals, it becomes richer, healthier, and, in turn, the produce that grows from it is far more nutrient-dense.”
She further emphasised the documented benefits of eating organic vegetables, particularly those rich in fiber and essential micro-nutrients. “These vegetables are naturally high in prebiotics, substances that nourish the beneficial bacteria in our gut. A healthy, diverse gut microbiome is critical for proper digestion, absorption of nutrients, and even mental health.”
Galvad explained that eating organic vegetables is one of the simplest ways to ensure your body receives the nutrients necessary for maintaining a balanced microbiome.

During the event, she also provided helpful farming tips to guests on how to support the growth of organic vegetables at home. “We must pay attention to where our food comes from, how it is grown, and the impact it has on both our bodies and the earth.”
She concluded by stating that, by choosing organic, we are not only helping our guts but also contributing to the health of the planet.
