Councillor builds towards a better Ward 102
From saving Bryanston Sports Club to launching Reimagine Randburg, Ward 102 councillor Lucinda Harman says 2025 has been a year of hard-earned community victories.
Ward 102 councillor Lucinda Harman says 2025 has been a year of visible community progress, with several long-awaited wins finally realised.
Among her accomplishments in the ward was the reopening of the local swimming pool after four years, and fencing off the park, both of which she described as personal victories.

Another major success, Harman said, is her Reimagine Randburg initiative, a grassroots campaign encouraging residents and businesses to clean up and reclaim public spaces. “Reimagine Randburg has shown how quickly things can change when people take ownership. We are now dividing the area into blocks, with captains and teams, to keep the momentum going.”
Harman also led efforts to protect the Bryanston Library and Bryanston Sports Club from being sold, calling them essential community assets.
Still, she remains frustrated by the slow pace of municipal service delivery. “Residents are dealing with constant water, power, and road problems. Storm water maintenance wasn’t done in winter, and now we’re facing flooding.”

Her immediate goals are to fix streetlights, traffic signals, and road markings along Bryanston Drive and Main Road, while ensuring that city cleaning teams resume regular work in the area.
Looking ahead to 2026, Harman wants to strengthen community recreation centres and open public spaces, keeping them safe, family-friendly, and free from illegal occupation. “It’s going to be a challenging year, but I will keep fighting for residents and for a Randburg that reflects the pride of the people who live here.”
