Michael Mount Waldorf School appoints its student representative council for 2026
The new group of student leaders plan on leading with heart and collaboration at the Bryanston-based school.
Leadership is not about titles or hierarchy at Michael Mount Waldorf School; it’s about empathy, creativity, and service. The newly elected 2026 student representative council (SRC) embodies exactly that spirit.
The SRC plays a vital role in encouraging school participation, nurturing community spirit, and ensuring every learner’s voice is heard. With love and devotion, they strive to nourish the unique capacities of every learner, so that, in each, the critical and creative intelligence to envision the future, the compassion and commitment to understand others, and the courage to be a free and active participant in our common human experience may awaken.

This year’s council is made up of two representatives from each high school class, and is led by a passionate group of matric learners: Luca Amerseder, Ciara Grubb, Amaya Fang Da Fonseca, Riley Pearman, and Mia Topp.
For Ciara, joining the SRC was about giving back to a community that helped her thrive. “I wanted to contribute to the Michael Mount community in a way that aligns with my strengths, interests, and values. I work best in creative and independent settings, and being part of the SRC allows me to help others like me have the best school experience possible.”
She describes leadership in a Waldorf context as being someone that people feel comfortable turning to for help, guidance, and support, rather than someone others are expected to follow.

He is optimistic about the new team’s energy and balance, saying the SRC covers most points of view across the school. “We create a stronger foundation for what the SRC should achieve and uphold in the years to come.”
For Amaya, leadership means unity through diversity. “To lead, you must be able to listen. At Michael Mount, we are all so creative and different, yet our ethos unites us. It helps us find common ground.”
She is most proud of the team’s ability to support and uplift one another, describing the SRC dynamic as strong, diverse, and impartial.
