Sandton teen crowned Teen Universe Petite SA 2026, sets sights on global stage
From representing Gauteng to wearing a national crown, Iman Sekoto says her Teen Universe Petite South Africa 2026 win is a moment of gratitude, purpose and pride as she prepares to represent the country internationally in Nicaragua.
All eyes were on Emperors Palace when Iman Sekoto, from Crawford International Sandton, reached a defining milestone in her pageant journey.
The 18-year-old has officially been crowned Teen Universe Petite South Africa 2026, marking a powerful new chapter in her mission to inspire, empower and lead with purpose.

For Sekoto, the moment her name was announced is one she will never forget. “It felt so surreal,” she said. “I was overwhelmed with so many emotions, but mostly gratitude for my journey and for everyone who has believed in me and invested in it. It felt like confirmation that everything I’ve poured my heart into truly mattered.”
The title, she explained, is far more than a crown.
“It means leading with purpose,” Sekoto said. “This title isn’t just something I wear; it represents growth, faith, and using my voice with intention to empower others. Being fully and authentically yourself is powerful enough, and that’s how you’re able to inspire.”
As Teen Universe Petite South Africa 2026, Sekoto will represent the country at the Teen Universe International competition in Nicaragua early next year, an opportunity she approaches with humility and pride.
“It’s an incredible honour. South Africa is rich in depth, resilience, and beauty, and representing that on the international stage is something I don’t take lightly. I carry my country with pride and humility.”
She plans to showcase South Africa’s rich culture and diversity not only through attire and presentation, but through the way she connects with others.
“Our culture lives in our people, our stories, and the way we show up for one another,” she said. “Through warmth, confidence and Ubuntu, I want the world to feel South Africa through me.”
She added that the support she has received from Sandton and Gauteng has played a significant role in her journey.

“The support has been grounding and impactful. Knowing that my community stands behind me has given me strength and confidence. It reminds me that I’m never walking this journey alone and that the crown is not mine alone.”
As preparations for the international competition begin, Sekoto is focused on holistic readiness.
“I’m preparing mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually. I’m working on developing discipline, self-belief, and staying aligned with who I am, because that’s where my confidence comes from. I’m also seeking sponsorship, where possible, to support this journey.”
To young people who dream of following a similar path, she offers a heartfelt message.
“Believe in yourself before the world does. Your dreams are valid, your journey is unique, and you don’t have to become someone else to succeed. You already carry everything you need within you.”
