Fierce battles at Morningside as Henselite Johannesburg Bowls Association Ladies Pairs sectionals gets underway

Women bowlers from across Johannesburg are battling it out at Morningside Country Club as sections 9, 10, and 15 of the Henselite JBA Ladies Pairs sectional rounds deliver tight competition.

The greens at Morningside Country Club are alive with intensity and precision as three sections of the Henselite Johannesburg Bowls Association (JBA) Ladies Pairs sectional take place.

Teams representing clubs from across Johannesburg have gathered for sections 9, 10, and 15.

Each section consists of four teams competing for a coveted place in the playoff rounds later this month.

Among the clubs represented are Bryanston Sports Club, Bryanston Country Club, Wanderers Bowling Club, Linden Bowling Club, Roosevelt Park Bowling Club, Jeep Quondam Bowling Club, Bedfordview Country Club, and Ridge Park Sports Club.

Tournament official at Morningside Country Club Neil Schluter said: “We have some exciting play here today.

We have a good number of provincial players, as well as one Springbok player, Tracy-lee Botha.

The competition, as we stand at the present moment, is in the middle of the second round, and the competition is pretty fierce.”

Schluter added that the winners of each section will advance to the playoffs at Ridge Park Sports Club on May 24, where the competition will intensify through the last 32, last 16, and quarterfinal stages.

“The finals of the tournament are scheduled for May 31, also at Ridge Park.”
