Bryanston gets moving as Decathlon brings sport to the community
Children and adults alike enjoyed a day of games, fitness challenges and sporting activities as Decathlon Bryanston opened its doors to the community for a fun-filled festival.
Families, fitness enthusiasts and young sports lovers gathered in Bryanston on October 31 for a day of activity, fun and community connection at the family sports festival.
Hosted by Decathlon Bryanston, the event brought the local community together through a shared love of sport, giving residents an opportunity to get moving, try different activities and spend quality time with their families while connecting with others in the neighbourhood.

Sizakele Ngcobo, department manager for the running and team sports departments at Decathlon Bryanston Sports Hub, said the initiative was about creating meaningful connections with people living in the store’s surrounding areas. “What we are doing today is hosting our first-ever Decathlon Family Sports Festival. It’s for the community. We want to interact with the people in our catchment area. It’s completely free,” she said.

The festival offered something for different age groups and fitness levels, ensuring that both adults and children could take part in the day’s activities.

Adults had the opportunity to put their fitness to the test through a fitness bootcamp and CrossFit sessions, while younger visitors enjoyed interactive games, prize giveaways and the chance to spin a prize wheel.
Ngcobo said the programme was deliberately designed to bring families together while giving everyone an opportunity to participate.
The activities encouraged residents to step outside their usual routines, try something different and discover how sport and physical activity can bring people together.
