Government urges public to partner with SAPS for safer communities
Residents are being urged to work with the police so that women, children and all people can live free from fear and crime has no place to thrive.
Government has called on all members of society to work together with the police to create safer neighbourhoods.
The appeal was issued on September 17 under the banner Building safer neighbourhoods for all.

They feel that creating safer communities requires a collaborative effort among residents, the SAPS, local government, schools, businesses and civil society, and that together, crime can be prevented before it happens.
People are asked to remain alert to suspicious activities in their community and report them to the police. Illegal firearms, drug-related crime, gender-based violence, child abuse and other criminal acts must never be ignored.
Residents should know their neighbours and look out for those who are most at risk, especially women, children and the elderly.

Strong, caring communities are the foundation of safer neighbourhoods. “If you see something, say something,” government said in a statement.
“By working together, remaining vigilant and supporting law enforcement, we can protect one another and build safer neighbourhoods for all.”
Anyone who witnesses or has information about a crime should not remain silent. Incidents or suspicious activity can be reported through the MySAPS App or at https://www.saps.gov.za/services/mobile_app.php.
