Experience Christmas magic at Sandton City

The festive season is here and it’s a whimsical time of the year. Returning to Sandton City is the Nutcracker’s Winter Circus. Bigger and better, this year’s adventure boasts master puppetry with the Parade of the Animals adding a captivating dimension to the production.

Inspired by the traditional Christmas story, The Nutcracker, creative director Andrew Botha always wanted to include a circus theme within the story. Producer Lyall Ramsden mentioned that the opportunity came about and the team was all too excited. “When the opportunity to present something theatrical to a shopping mall came about, we presented the Nutcracker’s Winter Circus and that’s how it was born.”

In the middle of Sandton City in the Centre Court is a majestic tent filled with wonder. Enter a magical world and escape your troubles with a Christmas-inspired story.

The captivating and magical show takes place at Sandton City Centre Court from 18 December to 5 January 2020. Take the whole family and see magic.

“Escape the real world, forget about your troubles and visit a magical world for just 40 minutes. There is more to life than just our troubles and that is important for kids to learn,” said Ramsden.

He mentioned that the main objective was to bring theatre to the people in a retail space and give them a truly unique experience.

Keeping in line with the Christmas spirit, a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Sandton SPCA.

With the introduction of the Parade of the Animals, it has raised the creative bar which truly captures the spirit of the festive season.

“The big objective here was to introduce theatre to kids that have never seen theatre before and at affordable prices. It allows people to come and see shows that they normally wouldn’t see.”
