City to appoint engineer to probe M1 collapse
SANDTON – The City Of Johannesburg has announced the appointment of an independent engineer to investigate the cause of the collapse of the scaffolding of a pedestrian bridge under construction onto the M1 which left three people dead and 21 injured.
This incident occurred on 14 October when the scaffolding collapsed at the Grayston Drive bridge, resulting in the closure of the highway.
Nthatisi Modingoane, spokesperson for the City of Johannesburg confirmed that five victims of the collapse were critically injured.
Three people were killed in the M1 bridge collapse.
