Bryanston Sport Club hosts a smash-hit tennis day

Players shine bright on a day filled with heart-pounding action and unforgettable moments on the court.

In a display of fierce competition and sportsmanship, the courts of Bryanston Sport Club witnessed an exhilarating day of tennis action.

Players from all skill levels converged to showcase their talent and passion for the game, turning the day into a resounding success.

Despite overnight rain and threatening weather, the courts dried up enough for the Jozi Mixer to be played. The games were in the gold and silver sections.

According to Lisa Wade, who was overseeing the games, the competition was fierce and the players played in good spirits.

“In the gold section, the Just Cruisin team from Rivonia came from behind to defeat the Late Comers from Marks Park 18–17 by winning the deciding tiebreak.”

She added that Country Club Johannesburg had an easier time in their semi-final and claimed a 25–7 win over the Rose Petals from Bryanston Sports Club, and after the first four matches in the final, the scores were tied at 16–16 before CCJ could claim the top prize with a 7–2 win in the deciding tiebreak.

“The Late Comers and The Rose Petals pushed each other all the way, and after four mixed doubles matches, the scores were level at 16–16. In the deciding tiebreak, tied at 6/6, the Marks Park team managed to win the deciding golden point and claim third place. This match could certainly not have been any closer.”

Wade elaborated that the silver section was played at Marks Park, and in the semi-final playoffs, the Wild West team from Florida Park and the Mighty Minions from Marks Park claimed comfortable victories to secure their place in the final.

“In the playoffs for third and fourth, the Net Ninjas from Marks Park defeated the Hot Rockets to claim bronze. The final went down to the wire, and after the mixed doubles matches, the Mighty Minions were 9–7 up.”

She concluded that the team then held their nerve to win the tiebreak and secure a 12–7 win and the silver section title.
