Coach Sydwell Ndlovu on talent spotting and club cricket’s value

The game may have been cut short, but the potential of these young cricketers shone through, promising an exciting future for youth cricket in the region in Sandton.

In a cricket showdown between Grayston Prep and Waterfall Midrand, the match ended unexpectedly due to a lightning strike.

Waterfall Midrand set an impressive target, scoring 21/4 in their 20 overs, with Tayga Dias Roxo leading the charge by scoring a phenomenal 113 not out.

Grayston Prep began their chase strongly, posting 114/4 after 14 overs when the match was interrupted by lightning, forcing an early end to the game.

Cricket coach Sydwell Ndlovu, who was scouting for talent for the Cover Drive Cricket School, shared his observations. “Both sides have talented players, no doubt, but I could easily recognise those who play club cricket.”
He encouraged young stars to play club cricket to sharpen their skills and make new friends from different schools and backgrounds.

Cover Drive Cricket School based at Grayston Prep, has a reputation for producing skilled cricketers and well-rounded individuals.

“Your child will enjoy cricket with us and will undoubtedly improve their game,” added Ndlovu, emphasising the school’s commitment to fostering both athletic talent and character development.
