Vinesh Maharaj, a seasoned sales expert from Sandton, has always admired the drive and determination of immigrants.
Maharaj understands that immigrants’ hustle, marked by resilience, grit, and ambition, fuels success in a way that can inspire anyone, whether in sales or business.
Maharaj’s career in sales has shown him firsthand the power of persistence, and he often reflects on how immigrants embody this mentality. “Immigrants do not have the safety nets others may rely on, like social security or family ties. Their success is driven by the pure will to forge a better life, often starting with nothing but a dream. That is a mentality I think every salesperson should adopt.”

For Maharaj, the immigrant spirit is about not settling, fighting for your dreams, and being relentless in pursuing success. “Do not settle. Settling means quitting on yourself. Never accept mediocrity when you know you are capable of more.” It is a philosophy that mirrors his approach to sales, where settling for average results is never an option.
He added that his strategies are designed to elevate sales professionals to their highest potential, much like how an immigrant strives to break past limitations and rise above obstacles.
Taking risks is another cornerstone of both his philosophy and the immigrant experience.
He emphasises the point in his training sessions, encouraging salespeople to step outside their comfort zones. “You cannot expect to win big if you are not willing to leap.”
In his coaching, Maharaj encourages a relentless pursuit of growth and success, much like immigrants who work their way up from humble beginnings. “Immigrants are some of the hardest workers. They start in menial jobs, yet they do not stop. They leverage their perseverance, expanding their networks and learning the landscape until they see opportunities and fill them relentlessly.”
He concluded by stating that success does not come overnight, but, with constant motivation, hard work, and an unwavering belief in the future, it’s possible to achieve greatness. “Keep fuelling the dream. Stay inspired and motivated, and always take action toward your goals.”
