Wena Wesifazane Ukhululiwe movement empowers women to walk in destiny
The Wena Wesifazane Ukhululiwe movement is helping women break free from fear and self-doubt, inspiring them to rise, reclaim their worth, and walk boldly in their divine purpose.
Women have always carried the heartbeat of families, communities, and nations, yet too often, they are held back by fear, doubt, and invisible chains.
The Wena Wesifazane Ukhululiwe movement seeks to break those chains, calling women to rise, reclaim their worth, and live boldly in their divine purpose.
The movement was hosted by Light Shedding Africa Foundation at Hotel Sky Sandton on October 25, to champion spiritual freedom and healing under the leadership of Khanyisile Madlala, CEO of the foundation.

“Our heart is with women and children. When you empower a woman and protect a child, you build a nation. Wena Wesifazane Ukhululiwe is a declaration of freedom, a reminder that a woman’s destiny is not bound by her past but defined by divine purpose.”
Translating to ‘Woman, you are free,’ the phrase captures the spirit of liberation and transformation. Madlala explained that holding the event in October, shortly after the Jewish New Year (Rosh Hashanah), symbolised a season of renewal, reflection, and rebirth.
“Whatever burden a woman carried into this room,” she said, “we declare it over. It’s time to grow, glow, and flow in your divine destiny.”

Through workshops, mentorship, and faith-based empowerment, women were encouraged to release limitations and embrace opportunities for growth, skills development, and personal transformation.
Johannesburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry CEO Bernardette Zeilir highlighted the collective impact of women working together.

“Women form an integral part of society and community. As we walk together and take arms together, we can create opportunities, address unemployment, and inspire others to grow and expand.”
Zeilir emphasised that empowerment was about purpose and service. “Ask yourself, ‘What is my purpose, and how can I make a difference in someone else’s life?’ When women uplift one another, we unlock the greatness within all of us.
“The Wena Wesifazane Ukhululiwe movement reminds women that their growth and empowerment have a ripple effect. An empowered woman nurtures confident children, strengthens families, and leads communities toward progress.”
Through initiatives such as this, Light Shedding Africa Foundation continues its mission to empower women and protect children, partnering with charities such as Ronald McDonald House Charities and House of Bethany.
In her conclusion, Madlala said, “It’s time for women to align with God’s purpose, to grow, to glow, and to flow not just for themselves, but for the generations that follow.”
