Sandton teen sets sights on Teen Universe SA crown
Eighteen-year-old Iman Sekoto will represent Gauteng at the Teen Universe South Africa grand finale, and is calling on the community to vote and support her journey to the crown.
Sandton’s own Iman Sekoto (18), is one step closer to achieving her dream of being crowned Teen Universe South Africa.
The Crawford International Sandton student will proudly represent Gauteng at the Teen Universe grand finale, scheduled for December 14 at Vodacom World Events in Midrand.
Iman, who has a passion for performing arts, modelling, and personal development, describes this journey as super exciting and an honour to represent her province on a national stage. “It feels super exciting to know that I’ve made it this far, and have the privilege of representing Gauteng. I’m truly honoured and looking forward to the journey and the opportunities that lie ahead.”

Beyond the glamour of the crown, she views Teen Universe as a platform for empowerment, advocating for mental health awareness among young people and inspiring others.
Her initiative, Glow from Within, aims to ignite mental transformation through positive self-affirmation, while her charity work with Emandleni Creche in Meadowlands, Soweto, focuses on creating a thriving learning environment for children.
Recent activities include the Crowning the Youth initiative, where children personalised paper crowns to reinforce self-worth and positivity. “Winning Teen Universe South Africa is not just about the crown; it’s about using this platform to uplift young people, and representing South Africa with pride.”

Looking ahead, Iman’s ambitions extend beyond the runway. She plans to study law, specialising in intellectual property, while pursuing her dream of launching her own cosmetics company that celebrates individuality and inner confidence.
Should she win, Iman will go on to represent the country internationally in Nicaragua in 2026, marking the 15th anniversary of Teen Universe International.
Iman is now calling on the Sandton community, as well as Gauteng at large, to support her journey through votes.
To vote, supporters can create the Teen Universe Beneficiary on their banking app, select a voting amount as indicated on her poster, and use: Iman Sekoto, as the reference.
She also encourages local businesses to get involved by supporting Emandleni Creche, helping to refurbish the learning centre and improve the environment for the children. “It would be an honour beyond words to represent South Africa. It means carrying my story, my community, and my purpose to a global stage, showcasing the beauty and diversity of our nation. Bringing the crown home would be history making.
“Your votes mean the world to me. Every single one shows that my community believes in me and what I stand for. Together, we can make a difference, and hopefully bring the crown home to South Africa.”
