WATCH: Sandton residents make their mark
Residents came in numbers at various voting stations in Sandton.
Residents took to the polls this morning on May 29 to make their mark at the Sandton Fire Station.
This is the 30th democratic election since 1994. For the first time, today’s elections include independent candidates on the national and regional ballots. With independents and new parties in the mix, the eyes of the world are on South Africa to see if the ANC slips below the majority of votes, which parties’ stars are rising, and what coalitions will be formed should outright majorities not be won nationally or in the provinces.
Throughout Sandton, only minor incidents have been reported, mostly delays in queue allocation.
Some in Bryanston waited for hours before making their mark while others in Morningside said it was a breeze.

Residents were happy to cast their votes:

The Ernest Ullmann Park Recreation Centre voting station was a bit quieter. Rise Mzansi’s Gauteng Premier candidate Vuyiswa Ramokgopa was also there to cast her vote. “This election allows us to take our power back,” she said.
