Three shot dead in Buccleuch interchange police shootout

Police confirm three suspects were shot dead following a police shootout at the Buccleuch interchange after a high-speed chase involving multiple law enforcement units and private security.

Three suspects were shot dead following a shootout with police at the Buccleuch interchange on June 25.

According to a police statement, the police had received intelligence about a group of men travelling in three separate vehicles around malls. The suspects are believed to be involved with the so-called ‘rolex gang’.

“The Gauteng Tactical Response Team (TRT) spotted one of the identified vehicles along the N3.

They attempted to stop the vehicle which sped-off leading to a high-speed chase and shootout between the suspects and the police.

The TRT was backed up by the Provincial Anti-Gang Unit, Gauteng Traffic Airwing and private security companies.”

The statement highlighted that the suspects’ vehicle came to a standstill at the Buccleuch interchange.

“They [suspects] were declared dead on the scene. While the police were busy processing the scene, the second identified vehicle was spotted in the traffic and was stopped.

The driver who was alone in the car was arrested and will be charged with conspiracy to commit robbery.”
