From competitive football to community spirit, 5Quad League Season 4 opened with memorable moments on and off the pitch.

Discovery Soccer Park in Sandton came alive on the opening day of the 5Quad League Season 4 finals weekend as players, supporters, creators, and football enthusiasts gathered for a day that stretched into the evening.

Known as South Africa’s largest private five-a-side football league, the 5Quad League brought together competition, entertainment, and football culture in an atmosphere that celebrated the game beyond the final score.

The event delivered a packed schedule of fixtures and drew crowds who stayed engaged throughout the day, creating an energetic environment around every pitch. One of the standout matches of the day was the clash between Orlando Pirates Fives and Fomo Ace 5’s. The highly competitive encounter ended in a 1–1 draw after Orlando Pirates Fives had to fight back following an early setback.

Orlando Pirates Fives team manager Conrad Botha reflected on the team’s opening result and the intensity of competition. “We have had our first group game now. We drew 1–1 after going down first because of a mistake at the back, but it just shows the level of football here. We had to work hard to pull one back.”

He added that the pace of the game left little room for error. “The game went quickly. There are a lot of good teams here. We’ve still got three more group games, and hopefully we make it through to tomorrow.”
