Johannesburg Bowls Association Trips final ends

BEDFORDVIEW – Bowls clubs compete in the Johannesburg Bowls Association Trips final on February 20.

Bowls clubs around Johannesburg competed in the Johannesburg Bowls Association (JBA) Trips finally.

Mixed pairs, men’s and women’s finals were all played on February 20 at the Belgravia Bowling Club in Bedfordview.

In the men’s JBA Trips final division, Gary Austin, Neville Redman and Chris Rogers of the Old Parktonians took home gold after beating Tony Mazaris, Alan van Dyk and Sipho Velempini of the Bryanston Sports Club.

The women’s division had Linden Bowls Club and Bedfordview Bowls Club going toe to toe for first place. Tracy Herrington, Kathy Venter and Michelle Ashburner, who all represented Bedfordview Bowls Club during the game, had a four-point lead against Heather Pembroke, Ronel Fouche and Esme Hayley of the Linden Bowls Club. Bedfordview won the game which resulted in their first-place victory in the women’s division.

Bobby Donnelly with his partner Esme Murphy played against Warren Steyn and his partner, Karen Rodrigues during the mixed pair finals. Both teams represented Roosevelt Park but only one team could claim the number-one spot. Donnelly and Murphy took home the gold as the match ended in their favour.
