Warriors FC asks for help sponsoring their underprivileged players
Warriors Football Club in Sandton is a leading youth development and sporting institution that combines high-level football training with a strong community focus.
At the heart of Sandton, Warriors Football Club has emerged as a beacon of youth development and sporting excellence.
Based at the prestigious Wanderers Club and Sandton Sports Club, the club offers a blend of high-level football training and a strong community ethos.
Under the guidance of Moïra Valkin, director of Discovery Soccer Park and overseer of Warriors, the club is shaping young football talent from the ground up.
Valkin said, “Warriors is not just about winning games, it is about nurturing well-rounded players who love the game, play with passion, and develop the skills that will serve them for years to come.”

She added that from as young as four, they provide a solid foundation for the children, teaching them to play with confidence, flair, and giving them the freedom to make mistakes and learn from them.
“The club’s vision goes beyond the technical ability. Our experienced, dedicated, and well-loved coaches aim to instill a love for the beautiful game, emphasising attacking football, teamwork, and personal growth.”
Valkin explained that the Warriors offers a structured pathway for players, starting with developmental teams and progressing through to competitive leagues.
“This year, Warriors continued to build on its proud legacy, with teams competing in the SAFA Little League (U6–U11) and SAFA Junior League (U12 and U13). Our older teams (U13–U19) have been participating for the last four years in the Gauteng Development Promotional League, a collaboration with TS Galaxy and Capital City. These leagues provide a platform for young players to showcase their talent and develop in a competitive environment.”

She elaborated that what makes Warriors truly unique, is its ability to bring together players from diverse communities.
“We have seen children from Sandton playing side by side with those from Alexandra, creating unforgettable moments on the field. The club fosters an environment where talent is nurtured, regardless of background, and where friendships are built through a shared love of football.”
She pointed out that the club’s success has been evident this year with several standout performances, including the U6 team making it to the cup finals, as well as top finishes by the U7 Division 1 Wanderers and Sandton teams, U8 Premier Wanderers, and U10 Division 3 Sandton team.

These achievements are due to the commitment and passion of both players and their families. “The parents have been incredible. Their support, dedication, and belief in our programmes have been key to the progress we have made. We are incredibly proud of the players and everything they have achieved this year.”
Looking forward to 2025, Valkin and the club have a clear goal, to ensure that every talented player, regardless of their financial background, has the opportunity to thrive.
“We are a non-profit organisation, and one of our biggest wishes is to secure sponsorship for our underprivileged players, many of whom have exceptional talent but lack the resources to take their game to the next level.”
She concluded by stating that they believe their model fits perfectly into a corporate CSI initiative, and they are hopeful that the right partners will come forward to help support these future stars.
