Young players turn up in numbers as FC Pro Athletico builds momentum at Sandown High School
Attendance is on the rise at FC Pro Athletico, where weekly training sessions are drawing more young players to the field as the club continues its grassroots revival.
Momentum is building at Sandown High School as FC Pro Athletico continues to attract more young footballers to its weekly training sessions.
The club hosted its regular practice on April 12, with founder and head coach Chris Dlamini noting a noticeable increase in attendance compared to earlier sessions.
“We had practice today, and all players attended. So the drill that they were doing was practising a shooting technique.”

The growing turnout reflects renewed interest from families in the area, as the club steadily rebuilds its presence at the school grounds after returning to grassroots football.
Dlamini said the programme focuses on developing fundamental skills while keeping the sport enjoyable for young players.

“We offer sessions to kids from as little as five years old up to 12 years old. We have been coaching soccer at the school since 2009, and we are affiliated with a local football association.”
While the numbers are still developing, the steady growth suggests the club’s approach is resonating with both children and parents looking for structured but supportive football training in the community.
