Anticipating a film that you will never see
BRAAMFONTEIN – There's loads to see at a film preview of a movie that we will never be able to watch.
It was the launch of the movie that we will never see and it was a star-studded event to behold.
Actor and TV personality, Tumisho Masha, and presenter, Chris Jaftha, are just a few of the high-profile local celebs that attended the preview of 100 Years: The Movie You Will Never See; presented by Remy Martin cognac producers, and their 100-year-aged Louis XIII bottle of cognac.
“Today is the non-grand premiere of the movie that you will never see,” said Caroline Lecarpentier, global communications director of Louis XIII.
Asked why we would be seeing the premiere of a film that no one would see, Lecarpentier explained, “John Malkovich and Robert Rodriguez made a movie – it’s all normal until this point,” she began to explain what makes this movie different to any other.
“The trick is that as a tribute to the time it takes to make one decanter of Louis XIII, they decided to fix the movie into a safe behind a bulletproof door and the safe will open automatically in 100 years – and the safe is here!”
So, it is not that no one will ever see this film, but rather that the film will only be seen in November 2115 – probably by the children and grandchildren of the existing generations.
“We produced and curated the movie, but it’s not a movie about Louis XIII. It’s a movie about the interpretation – the vision – of John Malkovich of what the world will be like in 100 years.
“We’re honoured to be here, now, because the safe has made a world tour. We’ve been to Los Angeles, New York, Paris, Tokyo, London, Cannes Film Festival and now we are here.”
The preview held at Shine Studios in Braamfontein gave invited guests a look into the imagination of beloved actor, Malkovich, and gave them a small taste of what to expect from the one-of-a-kind beverage.
