Community not even sure if they’ll vote

“When we raise some of the things that affect us as a community we are targeted by certain individuals because they think we are attacking them."

SEBOKENG.- With elections around the corner Zone 14, Sebokeng residents have mixed feelings over the service delivery in their area.

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster on conditions of not taking their pictures photos and their names being mentioned, the gatvol community said they are not even sure which political party to vote for. The community members pointed to Sedibeng Ster the dumping site just opposite Saul Tsotetsi Sports Complex in Zone 14, has been there for some time now.

When asked why the community dumps their rubbish there, they told Sedibeng Ster that it is because the municipality doesn’t come to collect their household rubbish. It is not the first time, Sedibeng Ster has highlighted the conditions just the opposite of the Saul Tsotetsi Sports Centre’s main entrance.

“When we raise some of the things that affect us as a community we are targeted by certain individuals because they think we are attacking them. So we are afraid to talk to the media or at public meetings because we are afraid we would be victimized for telling the truth.

“Look, at one stage we committed, as a community, to clear this place but a day after we cleaned it, we rubbish been dumped here again. Our complaints are not going to help us because our leaders don’t even care. I don’t many how many times we bring this up with relevant authority but even today nothing has been done. We also suggested putting a big skippy bin here but even today we are still waiting,” said a resident whom Sedibeng Ster interviewed anonymously.

To make it worse, this dumping site is between, a church, a sports center, and the Zone 14 Sports Complex.

Sedibeng Ster will make a follow-up with the relevant authority regarding this situation.
