Pre Winter Annual Tournament

This Top 16 game kick-started today, Saturday.

EVATON.- It is that time of the year when local soccer teams will participate in the annual “Pre Winter Don’t Do Crime Games’, scheduled at Pooe grounds in Evaton.

This Top 16 game kick-started today, Saturday.

With the PSL season-ending, the local soccer fans will flock to this venue to enjoy ‘Kasi football’, otherwise known as, ‘Diski Nine’. This was revealed to Sedibeng Ster Sport by the Organiser, Themba “Caitano” Zwelibanzi, who promised fireworks. The day’s program will start with the game between Los Blancos FC and Athletico De Evaton, followed by Manyora FC against All Blacks FC.

Major 1 FC will be up against 14 Stars FC in another game of the day with Izingwenya FC and Unstoppable FC playing the last game of the day. Zwelibanzi said the tournament is not only about winning but also attempting to fight crime in the community. He also told Sedibeng Ster Sport that the tournament will also highlight the importance of youth.

“We are going to use this tournament to address many issues in our community like crime, and drug abuse among other things. We are also going to encourage young people to go to vote in numbers on May 29. It is concerning that young people have little interest in elections, but as tournament organisers, we are going to make use of this platform to address some of these issues. We invite all Evaton community, young and old to come in numbers to support this initiative,” he concluded.
