Man (27) missing after mob justice

No one knows where he fled to as the police also went to Zone 20 and surrounding areas to search for him, without success.

SEBOKENG. – A 27-year-old man is missing after he was caught stealing and was allegedly assaulted by community members in Zone 20, Sebokeng.

A missing person’s case is being investigated by the Sebokeng police after Amkele Myika (27) was allegedly caught stealing and was given ‘public justice’ by community members. He was reported missing by his family.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Nthabiseng Mokhachane said that on April 18 this year Myika was allegedly caught stealing from a vehicle that was parked in a yard at Zone 20, Sebokeng, and was assaulted by unknown community members and the owner of the vehicle.

“According to the owner, Amkele managed to escape as injured as he was. No one knows where he fled to as the police also went to Zone 20 and surrounding areas to search for him, without success. Amkele’s family is worried about their son and would like the community to assist with any information that may lead to finding him,” Mokhachane said.

She pleads with the community members to stop taking the law into their own hands.
