EVATON. – She had one goal in life – to become the best-educated person in her family. Neo Tlali (17) managed to clinch seven A’s with over 80% in all her subjects.
Neo, a Lakeside Secondary School learner was basically raised by her grandmother who is a domestic worker. She left fellow learners and school staff in awe as she clinched A’s in all her subjects, although school Principal David Nkitsing was not surprised.
“I was expecting it. Neo has shown dedication from junior phase. I was expecting good results from her and I’m happy she managed to lead her peers with much greatness and we are expecting more from her,” exclaims Nkitsing.
Tlali’s grandmother, Esther Tlali (55) is a pillar of strength to Neo. “I love my grandmother. She is my friend and a person I can relate to. My mother Seipati Tlali (37) is my best friend. These two people play a vital role in my life. I have told them I want to get the best marks for matric. They believed in me. That gave me the courage to study hard,” says Neo.
She further says she is not the smartest girl in the world but she is definitely one of the hardest workers amongst the best.
Elsie was very emotional and very happy. “I’m happy that she got what she wanted. To God the glory,” says Elsie.
Neo got 86% in Sesotho, 80% in English, 83% in Mathematic, 81% in Life Orientation, 81% Geography, 87% in Life Science and 83% in Science.
