BOIPATONG. – Illegally connected electricity killed a three-year-old in front of her mother, Lindiwe Moyone in Boipatong last Wednesday morning.

The three-year-old was electrocuted by an illegal connection and things got worse as the deceased mother poured water on the electrocuted toddler. Neighbours and the mother rushed the toddler to a nearby clinic, but it was already too late.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Thandeka Koago said they were deployed to the scene: “We responded quickly to the scene. We are well aware of illegal connections as they are rife in that area.

“The toddler was declared dead after numerous examinations were carried out by nurses at the clinic.” When Sedibeng Ster arrived on the scene of the tragedy, the stunned community gathered as the wires were exposed. They commenced to complain about the conditions they were living in. Koago confirms that an inquest has been opened and is being investigated.
