Krugerlaan School opens its heart to Wide Horizon Hospice
Krugerlaan School partners with Wide Horizon Hospice to collect preloved clothing and non-perishable food through the hospice’s Pink Bin campaign.
VEREENIGING – Sometimes the smallest gestures carry the greatest weight. At Krugerlaan School, a bright pink bin now stands as a symbol of that.
The school has partnered with Wide Horizon Hospice and welcomed the hospice’s Pink Bin to its grounds. Learners, parents, and staff can now drop off preloved clothing and non-perishable food items, which will help care for patients who depend on the hospice during some of the most tender moments of their lives.
The clothing collected will be sold through Wide Horizon Hospice’s Charity Shop [to open on October 31 at Golf Park Centre], and every cent raised goes straight back into patient care. A jersey a child has outgrown, a jacket that no longer gets worn, or a tin of food from the pantry can all become comfort, dignity, and support for someone who needs it.
For Wide Horizon, the partnership is a reminder of how much a community can achieve together.
“We are deeply grateful to Krugerlaan School for opening its doors and its heart to our patients. When a school chooses compassion, it teaches a generation of children that caring for others is something we do together. To the learners, parents, and staff, thank you. You are making a real difference to people in their most vulnerable moments,” said Wide Horizon CEO Tersia Burger.
The hospice hopes Krugerlaan’s example will inspire other schools, businesses, and organisations across the Vaal Triangle to follow suit by placing a Pink Bin of their own and/or kindly lending a helping hand to the hospice.
Krugerlaan School’s community can drop off clean, preloved clothing and non-perishable food items at the Pink Bin on the school premises at 109 Houtkop Rd, Duncanville, Vereeniging.
