Vereeniging bogus doctor flees from authorities

Zwane adds that five bogus doctors have been arrested in Gauteng as part of the Operation. "Investigations have shown that the doctors identified as bogus are mostly foreign nationals who use the practice number of registered local doctors to run unlawful medical practices."

VEREENIGING. – The Road Traffic Management Corporation’s spokesperson Simon Zwane reports that a Vereeniging doctor used the back door of his premises to escape as officers moved into the premises to effect an arrest last week.

“This was as Law Enforcement Authorities carried out Operation Recall to clamp down on the unlawful issuing of public driver’s permits. An assistant also tried to flee but was found in the bathroom where she had been holed up for more than an hour. She was then taken to the surgery for questioning. ”

Zwane adds that five bogus doctors have been arrested in Gauteng as part of the Operation. “Investigations have shown that the doctors identified as bogus are mostly foreign nationals who use the practice number of registered local doctors to run unlawful medical practices.”

Operation recall is an investigation initiated by the National Traffic Anti-corruption Unit and led by the Directorate of Priority Crime Investigations (the Hawks) to root out corruption in the issuing of driver’s licences and permits
