VANDERBIJLPARK. – “The economy of the country is in the hands of those who reward themselves.” These were the words of EFF spokesperson, Dr Mbuyiseni Ndlozi when addressing the Economic Freedom Fighters Students Command (EEFSC) of the Vaal University of Technology (VUT) during a ‘Thank you’ rally recently.
Ndlozi said around 1994 entrepreneurship was; “ in our fathers, mothers, great families hands who had been running projects such as sewing machine lessons in townships for years, taking their children to schools and tertiary institutions with commitment.”
He added that the establishment of malls in the townships has killed the entrepreneurship discipline that was there in the most hostile places – townships.
“It is the problem of society now. It is not about those who did not have money but talent. Education has to be free so that it becomes about rewarding talent,” he stressed.
Ndlozi said the reason they don’t see eye-to-eye with the ruling party is because they – the ruling party – don’t have black consciousness. “They said they were going to liberate us but forgot to give us the land.
”Even twenty years later when the government has a two-thirds majority in Parliament, they never pass a single law to empower black people. The government thinks of a future for us as people who always have to be employed. Nothing of any importance is owned by blacks.”
Ndlozi, who was in the company of of Gabriella Oliver (EFFSC), Leigh-Ann Mathuys (EFF TG) – was welcomed by VUT SRC President Lebohang Modupi and his Chairperson Ngoya Kazadi.
