Warrant Officer Martin Seaman – Communication Officer (Sedibeng Flying Squad)
VEREENIGING. – On Tuesday 28 May at about 00:30 Constable Nthabiseng Lethoba and Sergeant Mamokete Radebe of Sedibeng K9 unit arrested six suspects for possession of unlicensed firearm and dangerous weapons.
The members were on duty performing crime prevention at Orange Farm Policing Precinct. While patrolling a complaint was received that there was a shooting incident that occurred in Ext 7. On the members arrival at the Scene it was established that one man was shot and being treated by paramedics. The members interviewed the victim and he gave them a description of the group of six suspects who shot at him.
As they were busy searching for the suspects, six men with the description were spotted. The members then stopped and searched them. They were found with five knives and one 38 special revolver with ammunition in their possession. The fire arm’s serial number was filled off. The six suspects were arrested immediately and taken to Orange Farm Police Station.
All six suspects aged 22 and 36 will be appearing in the Vereeniging Magistrate Court for possession of prohibited fire arm and for possession of Dangerous weapons.
