SEBOKENG.- Sedibeng Netball Association recently hosted a Men’s Netball Tournament at Saul Tsotetsi Sports Complex in Zone 14, Sebokeng.
The tournament was in preparation for the selection of the Sedibeng male netball team that will take part in the National Champions scheduled to take place in September. Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, Sedibeng Netball Association Chairperson, Sonti Maqikela, said the tournament was meant to recruit more male netball players in Sedibeng seeing that there aren’t many males who are interested in playing netball. Maqikela challenges all males to come forward and join them.
“I know many people who are mis-informed and think that netball is a female-only sport based on past stereotypes.
“At one stage football was played only by men, but more women play the sport now and we want to achieve the same with netball,” she said.
Men who are interested to join can contact the association at 060 3959 610.
