Community fights COVID-19 and load shedding at same time

SEDIBENG.- As the world is fighting the invisible enemy called COVID-19, the Vaal  community fights both COVID-19 and load shedding at same time.

Many thought load shedding was a thing of the past until last night and this morning in Vanderbijlpark and other parts in Sedibeng. The residents took their frustration to social media, saying load shedding was something far from their minds as their concern is COVID-19. However, it is not clear that this is something that will happen often as it was the case last night and this morning. The residents claimed they were not informed about load shedding and they were not prepared for it as it came as a shock. In a statement Emfuleni Local Municipality said the fault has been found and isolated. The outage was caused by damaged line on 88kV line to NE3 and Cape gate sub. Currently the two feeders are off.  “It suspected that these lines were slowly failing and are the ones causing a trip in Munic substation. This also caused damage on 88kV cable at Cape gate.”
