Scholar transport to be sanitized

“Drivers have been requested to observe the Covid 19 protocols."

SEDIBENG.- The Gauteng Department of Education has enlisted the support of young people (young brigade) to be deployed in buses that will be transporting scholars to ensure social distancing when schools open for Grade 7 and 12 on Monday.

Sedibeng East, Acting District Director of Education, Pheello Metsing said that all buses transporting learners will also be sanitized before the learners can get on board in the morning and after school.

“Drivers have been requested to observe the Covid 19 protocols. The department has also enlisted the support of young brigades who will be deployed in buses so that they can enforce social distancing, hand sanitizing and ensure that all learners wear masks.”

Metsing said that, furthermore, they will embark on the process of collating database of private taxi’s that are taking learners to schools and involve the parents in making sure that taxi drivers adhere to the rules.
