BOPHELONG. – Bophelong Uniting Reformed Church in South Africa, ploughed back to the needy community of Bophelong recently.
The church took off a ‘leaf’ from the bible that says, “Blessed is the hands that gives” and for two consecutive days, 320 households received groceries.
Dimakatso Khambule, a church elder said they have provided food parcels to the communities since the beginning of Covid – 19.
“We visited several households where there are people that live close to the church that we believe they are doing good work to always keep an eye out for the church not to be vandalized.”
Various non-profit organizations from overseas were approached for funding for the donations.
Andrew Nkwenja, one of the elders, said that it is the duty of the church to plough back to the community during this difficult time.
Hloriso Molete (75), was over the moon after she received food parcels. I will make sure the food takes at least two months,” she said.
His statement was echoed by that of Annah Ramakau (62), who said she was happy that the church looks after the needy.
