Spate of house robberies reported in Three Rivers

Funda adds that a total of 17 people were arrested in Vereeniging for various crimes.

VEREENIGING. – The police in Vereeniging have warned against a series of house robberies taking place in Three Rivers. Police Spokesperson, Captain Fikile Funda says: “Members of the community are urged to tighten up their security, close all doors including security doors, even if you are home.”
Funda adds that a total of 17 people were arrested in Vereeniging for various crimes.

“Among the crimes they were arrested for was possession of drugs, dealing in drugs, driving under the influence, shoplifting, possession of
suspected stolen property, assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm, theft, malicious damage to property, pointing of a firearm and common robbery.”
All the arrested suspects have appeared in the Vereeniging Magistrate’s Court. While Funda warned against car thieves targeting patrons coming to enjoy themselves in Vereeniging, he also stated that the theft of motor vehicles is still rife in Three Rivers.
“The targeted make is VW Polo, NP2OO and 4X4 of any make. When driving in town, please close your car windows until you are out of town.
People doing business in Vereeniging must not walk and talk on their phones in town as they will be robbed.”
