Community leaders happy about outcome of meeting held with Vitro

SEBOKENG. – Community leaders who represented youth in a march that recently took place to Vitro Tile Ceramic Industries in demand of jobs and skills development programs said they are happy with the outcome of the meeting that was held between them and Ceramic industries management.

Community leader Jozi Motingoe says, “We have fixed whatever miscommunication there was between us and the company. We discussed all our concerns and management addressed us. I can say that we came to an agreement that will suit both the company and the community.”

Motingoe praised the company for their willingness to work with the community.

Ceramic Industries’ Chief Operating Officer Tshepo Molefakgotla says, “This serves to confirm that the management of Ceramic Industries held a constructive meeting with community leaders representing Thusano ka matla bathong and Mahlale a Lekoa Boitshepiville, with the specific goal of building good communication with local communities and keeping them informed of the Group’s mandated programmes to develop and promote skills, education, sport and conservation in our local communities.

“Ceramic management updated the representatives as follows: Ceramic’s development programmes are centred on creating opportunities for employment, building skills, developing entrepreneurs and creating sustainable economic growth for communities.”

Speaking about a recent Skills Development Programme which has benefited about 60 eligible young people from the Emfuleni Local Municipality, Molefakgotla says, “60 young people under the age of 35 have been accepted into the programme and offered fully funded training as welders, boiler-makers, electricians, motor mechanics, plumbers and fitters and turners. They will also receive entrepreneurship training to develop their entrepreneurial skills.
